Stereo MC’s

“And once all those boundaries of race and religion and those kind of things are broken down you get pretty nice people at the end of the day’

“The more people you see from different countries the more you realize that people are pretty much the same the world over. And once all those boundaries of race and religion and all those kind of things are broken down you get pretty nice people at the end of the day. And everybody can get along. Do you know what I mean? You know it’s like people are the same the world over. And I think it gives you faith in human being seeing that really. Despite you know what you see on TV and what people are doing to each other and when you actually meet people and realize that people are pretty good mostly.”

So people did not get well connected. Toda še enkrat Stereo Mc’s sta pripravila res izjemen koncert. Res sta se tudi trudila da bi se connectala z ljudmi toda to jima ni uspelo najbolje, kljub vsem klicem občinstvu v stilu: “People you have to carry me to the end; You have to full my Sublime; I can’t do it my self and so on and on” Kot bi se trudila v prazno.

Is this your first time here in Slovenia
S: Yeah, but I did an interview the other day with somebody from Slovenia and she said that it’s the first time and I say that it wasn’t. I think she got really confused. I think we drove through here though, didn’t we?

So you just came from EXIT festival in Serbia. How was it?
S: It was great. Really good.

And how was the food there?
S: Oh yeah it was good. We went to the same restaurant three times, four times.

I thought you ate a lot of famous Serbian food called “Čevapčiči”?
S: No, sorry? Will do that next time we visit Serbia.

I also read that you are very famous by your live act. Especially the stage diving thing.
S: Stage diving?

Yes.
S: No we don’t do stage diving, maybe just accidentally. Because we are so into music so we only focus on the wibe and on the feeling we have on stage. So if the momentary feeling is right I may jump in to public. But you never know, maybe we might do it tonight? J Drummer likes stage diving, but we always like to stop him. (smeh)

Are you touring the whole Europe?
S: No, no we are working at home at the moment. You know in the studio and stuff. And we just wanted to go out for a while so we are just doing like 8 shows in July. So I think next week we got Switzerland, Belgium, Austria, Germany & Singapur. And that’s it probably for the rest of the year

So you are doing a new record in the studio?
S: Yeah it is being recorded.

Will you be touring like you have been touring 10 years ago when you really toured a lot.
S: Well we were touring a lot a year before that and a year before that. We did like 80 shows around the world from England to Japan. Last year I think we did about 20 or 30 festivals. I guess when we didn’t put a record out for a while we didn’t play live either. I guess what we were trying to achieve was balancing both things so it didn’t look like we have disappeared. You know when were weren’t putting a record out that doesn’t really make any difference because people still say why didn’t you put a record out. It doesn’t make sense really. It’s all about playing live.

Where did you have the most fun? Where did you have the biggest fan base,…
S: I think all festivals are good because you see people from different countries and really the more people you see from different countries the more you realize that people are pretty much the same the world over. And once all those boundaries of race and religion and all those kind of things are broken down you get pretty nice people at the end of the day. And everybody can get along. Do you know what I mean? We have been to Brazil and at the same time is cool for us because we can visit all these eastern Europe countries where people are great. You know it’s like people are the same the world over. And I think it gives you faith in human being seeing that really. Despite you know what you see on TV and what people are doing to each other and when you actually meet people and realize that people are pretty good mostly.

What do you like better? Playing on festivals or your own shows?
S: It’s different you know. It’s like great to do your own shows and knowing that people are just coming to see your thing. And it’s great doing festivals sometimes when these people who don’t know who you are and they see you and they think you know “I really like that!” You know they weren’t expecting anything. It’s a different thing.

One last questions. You have great women back vocalists. Do they visit fitness studio because they are very fit. 🙂
S: (smeh) No they don’t really but I am going to take one of them to the gym latter because I think she needs to work out a bit. (smeh)
